This table has been with me for many years. It was bought from a charity shop when I was a student living in Clapham. A revamp was obviously overdue!
The first thing was to give it a coat of Annie Sloan’s Antibes Green, quite a transformation in itself. This was followed with a coat of Graphite and then LOTS of sanding. I wanted to give it a really distressed effect. The stencil design was added on top in Old White.
I must admit at this stage I had a little wobble, as the Antibes Green looked so bright against the Graphite. Everything looked a bit harsh with too much contrast. After waxing with a coat of clear wax, I tentatively added some dark wax. This was perfect, it really unified the colours and knocked them back.
So, a happy ending and best of all, I was able to work outside all day thanks to the lovely weather!
Fantastic! Hard to believe it’s the same animal!
The power of chalk paint!
This is the second blog I have seen with the Antibes Green today. I have never used that color but seeing it today definitely makes me want to try it. Your table turned out amazing!
Thanks. I was very unsure at first, but very happy with it now.
Thanks for your comment
