I painted and stencilled this lovely little chest a few weeks ago and left it in my studio. It was painted in Annie Sloan’s Graphite and Country Grey and the design took a long time, but I wasn’t 100% happy with it.
Yesterday I took it into the garden and painted the whole exterior with Antibes Green. Stupid, or brave? I was yet to discover.
I added one of the stencil designs which I had cut for the shipwright’s chest in Old White paint and followed this with a serious amount of sanding to reveal some of the pattern hidden below. A couple of layers of wax to finish and here it is. So much more interesting than before.
So, not stupid after all!
