A TV Cabinet Which Is A Cut Above

It has taken me ages to complete this project. Sometimes life just gets in the way of creative pursuits. There was the girls weekend by the sea (fish and chips and a bottle of Moet!), the Pet Shop Boys gig at the O2, oh and then of course, the freelance work and the general tending to the needs of a growing family.

This piece is actually a TV cabinet. I have no idea how old it is, but in spite of the horrible brown varnish, it has some lovely carving on the doors and I could see the potential.

I used the gorgeous combination of Annie Sloan’s Provence and Aubusson Chalk Paint, with a touch of Old Ochre in the stencil design. It has been distressed enough to reveal some of the Provence colour and also some of the wood.

The stencil design was inspired by some old Moroccan tiles and as with the old writing bureau I painted, I wanted the pattern to be a lovely suprise when you open the doors.

This is a lovely statement piece which would be perfect for hiding away a TV, DVD player, X-Box………
