I painted this very tired looking chair in Annie Sloan’s Old Ochre chalk paint. Using a combination of a hand cut stencil and two different sizes of sponge dabbers I then added the decoration in Graphite.
The design for the stencil was taken from a motif on an old metal beaker which sits on my desk in my studio. I bought it on my very first trip to Delhi about twenty years ago. Lots of people have told me that the chair looks very Scandinavian, but that central pattern is definitely Indian!

I don’t have Old Ochre yet… and I’m really liking that color. I have a project that I’m contemplating using Old Ochre with Coco. Thanks so much for sharing. Cool, cool, cool chair and stencilling.
Glad you like it. I wasn’t sure about the Old Ochre when I first started using it, but it’s lovely when it has been waxed.
